The Stage: David Ellefson Basstory Tour ‘Sleeping Giants’ + Supports

Severe Storms left many of us in Wisconsin without power for several days after it’s passing. However, the SV2 in Green Bay was our safe haven that Sunday, flooding the stage with some of the most powerful performances of the summer!

It was Wisconsin’s turn to experience the second chapter of the David Ellefson Basstory Tour, and we all had been looking forward to this show for months! Anything with the Combat or EMP Label Group name behind it is guaranteed to be a night of metal you will surely never forget!

This chapter was featuring songs from the newest David Ellefson project release, ‘Sleeping Giants’! After the lyrical video premiere of “Hammer Comes Down” earlier in the summer, I couldn’t wait to not only experience this song live, but to also see the other songs the album had to offer.

The first band to hit the stage for this explosive line up was none other than All Kings Fall! Honestly, I couldn’t imagine a more perfect fit to be added for local support! Check out their live performance below!

Next in line, all the way from Santa Cruz, CA, was Archer Nation! This heavy metal trio was touring in support of David Ellefson’s Basstory (and, of course, they are one of the thunderous metal bands of EMP Label Group)

It was no surprise to me that these guys have toured and supported many other heavy hitters in their time. Be sure to watch out for our latest Album Of The Week feature on the season finale of Powerslide and special interview feature with Dylan Rose-guitarist and vocals; for now check out their performance below!

I was so excited to know that the almighty Wrath of Chicago had joined onto this bill in support of some of the Basstory dates as a part of their own tour, ‘Rage Across America!’

It’s always a pleasure to bang my head with these legends of the Midwest metal scene! I was sure to pick up one of their special edition tour shirts as well! Don’t forget to get your own next time you catch them on stage! Their killer performance below!

Hitting the stage after their recent come-back and joining the ranks in the Combat Records family, 90’s Midwest metal band Bleed/Crawl of Green Bay, WI was up next.

I had never had the pleasure of seeing these dudes perform before, so it was awesome to catch them, especially since in about a month they are hitting Green Bay once again to celebrate the 25th anniversary of WOMB! I can’t wait to rock with those guys again. See them bring the metal to the stage below!

Finally, the moment we had all been eagerly awaiting was here!! David Ellefson took the stage with his MORE LIFE WITH DETH co-author Thom Hazaert, and their amazing all-star COMBAT RECORDS backing band featuring Dave Sharpe and Opus Lawrence of Dead By Wednesday, and Clayton Cagle of Hatchet!

They performed some of the BEST and most underplayed Megadeth tunes including “Go to Hell” which is one of my personal favorites, as well as several new tunes from David Ellefson’s most recent project “Sleeping Giants” which, if we haven’t told you enough on Powerslide or in general, IS available HERE. See some of the action yourself below!

Another killer night of metal in the books for the SV2, and after the crazy few days we had all had before then, it was more than welcomed! As you know, we here at Maehem Underground Media just can’t resist a good show, especially with a killer line up like this one! Thank you again to the SV2 for having us out there and to everyone at Combat Records! It’s our pleasure to work with you all!

Be sure to check us out for more coverage! If your band or venue is ever interested in hiring us to cover shows or events, just give us a holler!

Keep it metal friends! See you at the next show!
